Abstract
Do beer drinkers and wine drinkers have the same lifestyle habits and are they exposed to the same health risk factors? Are the differences in the levels of cardioprotection, observed in several studies between beer and wine drinkers, due to the specific effects of the beverage itself or to differences in the environment that could modulate the potentially beneficial effects of regular and moderate alcohol consumption? The data obtained from recent studies emphasizes the fact that the way in which alcohol is consumed should be taken into account when studying the relationship between the type of beverage and its potential effect on consumer health.
